Betty Ruth (Steffes) (Willin) Greenwald, age 82, passed away peacefully March 8, 2020, at her home in Attica, MI. She was born March 7, 1938 in Pontiac, MI, the daughter of Edward Joseph and Dorothy Emma (Burt) Steffes. Betty was a graduate of the Imlay City High School, Class of 1956. She lived most of her life in the Imlay City area. She married Leonard Lee Greenwald, Aug. 3, 1984.

Betty had worked at the Hamill Manufacturing Company (the Firestone seatbelt facility) in Imlay City for many years until they closed their doors. And then, at P.S.I. Manufacturing (a Telephone equipment plastics company) in Imlay City until she retired. Betty loved the hunt for her family genealogy. She had a passion for animals, particularly dogs. She had an understanding of dogs, and some might call her a “whisperer.”

She is survived by her loving husband, Leonard Lee Greenwald of Attica; her children, Mary Lynn Scott of Ortonville, Tami Leigh (Clinton) Hammond of Choctaw, OK, Toni Beth Dimas of Medina, NY, Brian Bernard Willin of IL; stepchildren, Leonard Lee Greenwald, Jr. of Lapeer and Lynette Frederiksen of Metamora; two sisters, Barbara (Don) Tucker and Shirley Rodamer; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Mary Steffes.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Dorothy Steffes; her siblings, Helen (Don) Steffes Swayze, Carl E. (Ardith) Steffes, William H. Steffes; a grandson, Robert Tyee Hammond; a stepson, Lonny Jeffery Greenwald; and a brother-in-law: Harold Rodamer.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street (the corner of 4th and Main), Imlay City, MI 48444.

It had always been Betty’s wish to not have a memorial service so, if you would like to do something in remembrance of her, please donate to your local animal shelter or rescue center.
