TRI-CITY AREA — Almont knocked off visiting Blue Water Area Conference champion Imlay City, 39-37, in a varsity girls’ basketball battle on Tuesday, February 25.

With the decision, Almont raises their mark to 11-9 and 7-7. Imlay City slips to 17-3 and 12-2.

In Tuesday’s battle, Imlay City opened up a 15-11 advantage after one quarter was complete.

Quarter two would see Almont net 13 points and Imlay City hit for 11, closing the gap to 26-24 at the halftime break.

When play resumed, Imlay City struck with a 10-6 third quarter edge. That staked them to a 36-30 cushion with 24 minutes gone.

Almont then put together a 9-1 fourth quarter rally, pulling out a 39-37 victory.

Brandi Kautz’s 13-point performance paced Almont that day. Kendall Roszczewski (nine points, including a trifecta), Grace Johnson (six, featuring a trey), Hannah Revoldt (five, with a triple), Skylar Stryker (four) and Jesse Hellebuyck (two) reach ed the scoring column as well.

For Imlay City, Mary Lengemann’s 10-point effort led the way. The Spartans also had Abigail Thibodeau (nine points), Kayla Rossen (eight), Lily Lengemann (six) and Delayna Osko (four) connect.
