We understand the challenges youth face during adolescence and the need for supportive role models to help them during this time, and beyond. The YMCA provides a safe space for pre-teens to build character, engage in healthy activities and build meaningful relationships with peers and caring adults.
Statistics show that 7th grade is a critical time in a young person’s life when exposure to risk factors greatly increases.
Cawood Honda and the YMCA’s own employee DREAM Team are teaming up for the 7th Grade Initiative, offering a free 7th Grade membership to students in St. Clair and Sanilac Counties.
The YMCA’s 7th Grade Initiative will give kids an opportunity to learn, grow and thrive by participating in healthy, confidence-building activities, and programs in a safe environment.
All 7th graders, whether they’re in one of our public schools, private school, or homeschooled are eligible for the program.
Participants and their parent(s)/guardians are invited to attend upcoming orientations on February 20, March 19 or April 16. Hours are 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Attendees will need to bring a parent/guardian and school ID/proof of 7th grade status to orientation; complete orientation, including program policies; one-time $5 registration for membership card and complete a couple of quick forms (membership roster/parent agreement).
