George Daniel Chapman, 73, of Berlin Township, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2020, at McLaren Port Huron Hospital.

He was born in Mt. Clemens, April 30, 1946, the son of the late Shirley and Clara (Finley) Chapman.

His marriage to Nancy Verschure was July 29, 1967, in Richmond.

George raised beef cattle, pigs and family horses and has been a life-long area crop farmer. He was employed with General Motors for 33 years before his retirement in 2000. George enjoyed woodworking, building farm projects, and custom combining and loved reading the newspaper, YouTube, and playing cards on the computer. He loved spending time with his great-grandchildren and morning meetings at the local McDonalds with his friends. George was a member of Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church, Dryden.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 52 years, Nancy; are three daughters, Tracy (David) Hadrich of Attica, Kristy (Darin) Hanchett of Columbiaville and Danielle Chapman of Wise, VA; eight grandchildren, Amber, Maria, Daniel, Jacquelyn, Simone, Coral, Tricia and Addison; six great-grandchildren, Alex, Kenny, Clayton, Shhawm, Jacqari and Mika; sisters, Diane, Sandy, Colleen and Deb; brother, Dale; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandsons, Cameron and Tyler Schrader.

The family honored the memory of George on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Capac.

Funeral services were held Monday, January 20. Rev. Helms, pastor of Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church, Dryden officiated. Burial was at in East Berlin Cemetery, Berlin Township.
