Raymond John Malburg, age 88, a resident of Capac since 1960, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2019 at his home surrounded by his wife and children.
Ray was born May 20, 1931 in Sterling Heights, MI, the son of Paul and Lorinda (Salter) Malburg. He married Barbara Eva Chartier on Aug. 31, 1957 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Utica, MI. Ray served in the Army stationed at an Air Force base in Alaska during the Korean War. He was a farmer and worked for the Capac School system as a custodian for 29 years. Ray lived a full and satisfying life. In his younger years, he was actively involved in the establishment of St. Nicholas Church doing handiwork when the church was built, serving as a Eucharistic minister and volunteering as a member of the men’s club. He often volunteered at local bingo games. He was famous with the students at Capac schools for his kind heart and infectious smile. His hobbies included ice fishing, golfing and watching his grandchildren’s sporting events. However, his
greatest joy was spending holidays at his home
with his children and grandchildren eating his wife’s home-cooked meals!
Ray is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Lucinda (Richard) Hunter of Almont, Sally (Carl) Lewandowski of Tecumseh, Dianne Malburg of Holt and Kevin Malburg at home. Grandchildren include Rick (Sarah) Hunter, Kurt (Kyleigh) Hunter, Lexi Hunter, Shaun Lewandowski and Shane Lewandowski. Also surviving are Lucas, Jacob, Brooklyn, Griffin and Macklin Hunter, his great-grandchildren; and siblings Clarence (Marcella) Malburg and Dorothy (Ray) Muylaert; as well as in-laws Margaret Malburg, Dave Chartier, Steve Chartier, Sharon (Earl) Zoar and Keith (Diane) Chartier.
Ray was preceded in death by siblings and their spouses, Marie (Elmer) Rhein, Margaret (Norbert) Rhein, Norbert Malburg, Lucille Malburg, Jerry Chartier, Phyllis Chartier and Mary Ellen Malburg.
Funeral Services will take place on Tuesday Dec. 31 at 11 a.m. at St. Nicholas Catholic Church (4331 Capac Road, Capac MI 48014) followed by burial at West Berlin Cemetery in Allenton, Michigan.
