John Mathews Raska, 77, of Mussey Township, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2019, at McLaren Lapeer Region Hospital.
He was born in New Haven, February 8, 1942, the son of the late Leonard and Margaret (Racz) Raska.
He was married to Carole Duckert. John found love again and married Alice London on September 21, 1998, in Capac. Alice died on March 1, 2016.
John worked for Ford Motor Company in production at the Romeo tractor plant, then in the Utica trim plant and back to the Romeo engine plant before retiring in 2014, after 42 years. He liked working in his yard, growing vegetables and flower gardening and enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers football and driving the back roads. John loved spending time with his family and grandkids.
Surviving are two daughters, Bethany (Scott) Mills of Allenton and Alicia (Brad) Kerns of Chesterfield Township; and a son, Wesley (Michelle) Raska of Lynn Township; five grandchildren, Pedro, Alexis, Racquel, Trista, and Dalton; three siblings, Rose Bantien, Bill Raska and Leonard Raska; as well as several nieces, nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by a son, Patrick Raska on April 25, 1999, and a brother, Jack Raska.
Funeral services were held at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Capac on December 30, 2019. Deacon Charles Martin of St. John Lutheran Church, Capac officiated.
