IMLAY CITY — The Imlay City varsity girls’ basketball team handed St. Clair a 60-40 setback at the Holiday Showcase last Friday afternoon.
St. Clair County Community College, in Port Huron, is where the matchup took place.
With the result, Imlay City raises their mark to 6-2 this season.
In Friday’s matchup, Imlay City bolted out to a 15-7 advantage after one quarter had ended.
The second quarter saw St. Clair bounce back, outscoring Imlay City 16-13. That trimmed their deficit to 28-23 at halftime.
When play resumed, Imlay City struck with an 11-5 third quarter edge, increasing their cushion to 39-28 with 24 minutes gone.
Imlay City then outscored St. Clair 21-12 from that point on, assuring themselves of a 60-40 triumph,
Ana Lengemann (14 points, including three trifectas) paced Imlay City’s scoring attack. The Spartans also had Mary Lengemann (10 points), Lily Lengemann (six, featuring a trey), Delayna Osko (six), Jaya Forti and Mackenzie Allen (five each), Isabella Aune, Abigail Thibodeau and Kayla Rossen (four apiece) plus Madison Ross (two) connect.
