IMLAY CITY — The Imlay City varsity boys’ basketball team slipped past Deckerville, 42-38, in the title matchup of the Harry Moore Tournament last Saturday evening.
Capac High School is where the game took place.
With the decision, Imlay City moves to 3-0 overall.
In Saturday’s matchup, Imlay City took a 9-6 edge after one quarter was over with.
The middle two quarters saw Imlay City generate 19 total points, while allowing 14, That left them up 28-20 with 24 minutes elapsed.
Imlay City then withstood an 18-14 fourth quarter rally, leaving with a 42-38 win to their credit.
Hunter Medrano (18 points) and Parker Lewis (12, featuring a pair of treys) proved Imlay City’s toughest players to contain. The Spartans also had Rile y Bertram (five points), Chris Cezik (four) and Raymond Liu (three) reach the scoring column.
All-Tournament team- Ethan Bowerman, Deckerville; Isaac Keinath, Deckerville; Kendal Burkhardt, Lakeville; Joe Montney, Capac; Riley Bertram, Imlay City; and Hunter Medrano, Imlay City.
Harry Moore Scholarship- Imlay City’s Hunter Medrano won the honor.
Capac’s Hank Barker was also nominated.
