Irene Haskins, age 87, of Imlay City, MI died Saturday, November 16, 2019 at McLaren Lapeer Region Hospital. Irene Isabelle Smith was born February 19, 1932 in Washington Twp., MI. She was the daughter of the late Burtram and the late Alice “Marjorie” (Knights) Smith. Irene attended Romeo High School. She married Richard Lee Haskins on July 8, 1950 in Romeo, MI. Irene and Richard lived in Almont, MI until 1978. They moved to Imlay City, MI on 5th Street and lived there for 36 years.
Irene was a homemaker, raising their six children and also helped to raise her grandchildren. She loved to spend time with her family
She is survived by her husband, Richard Haskins; three daughters, Wilma (David) Carrier of Shelby Twp., MI, Ruth Flores of Midwest City, Oklahoma, and Lois (Dwayne) Hawk of North Branch, MI; three sons, Tim (Joyce) Haskins of Dryden, MI, Daniel (Kathy) Haskins of Attica, MI and John Haskins of Dryden, MI; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and her two great-great-grandchildren.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Burtram and Marjorie Smith.
The funeral was held Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at First Baptist Church of Almont, 881 Van Dyke Rd., Almont, MI. Pastor Wayne Boyd officiated.
