Eleanor Sekely, 95, passed on to meet her Lord, Monday, November 18, 2019 at Stonegate Health Campus of Lapeer, MI. Eleanor Grace Presley was born May 24, 1924 to George Edward and Elizabeth Ann (Strain) Presley. As a young girl in Imlay City, she was a clerk at the A&P Store and McKillen’s Drug Store. She worked for General Telephone in Imlay City and Lapeer. Eleanor also cleaned for two doctors and other prominent people. Eleanor was a graduate of North Branch High School, Class of 1942. After high school, she went into the Marine Corps and served at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina from 1944 – 1945. Upon returning to Imlay City, Eleanor became an American Legionnaire of Post 135. It was in Imlay City where she met and married John Sekely from Attica, MI. They raised three sons, Ronald Sekely, John Sekely and Michael Sekely; and their daughter, Linda K. White. Eleanor attended and graduated from Michigan Beauty School in Flint, MI in 1959. She went on to own and operate her own beauty salon in the home which she, her husband, John, and their children built in Lum, MI for 10 years. Eleanor was a member of the Church of God (Lighthouse) of Lapeer, MI.
She is survived by three sons, Ronald Sekely of Grayling, MI, John (Roxanne) Sekely of Cheboygan, MI and Michael (Jeanne) Sekely of Marquette, MI; two sisters, Beatrice Reed and Catherine Breen; her six grandchildren, Jeffrey Saums, Jennifer (Scott) Stier, Ron (Julie) Sekely, Rick (Wendy) Sekely, Clay Sekely and Jill Sekely; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, John Sekely; her second husband, Wilbert Zitta; her daughter, Linda White; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Sekely; granddaughter, Lori K. Sekely; her parents, George and Elizabeth Presley; four brothers; five sisters; and many dear and loving friends.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 25, 2019 in Attica Township Cemetery, 4350 Peppermill Rd., Attica, MI. Michelle Lamb will officiate.
