Neighbors Helping Neighbors, (previously Project Homeless Connect) is scheduled for November 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lapeer Center Building at 425 County Center St. in Lapeer. Persons who are homeless, or at risk of becoming homeless, are invited to attend this free event.
Approximately 58 different agencies and vendors will be available with resources, information and applications for their services, to assist you on the spot. Help with housing, employment, veteran services, senior services, mental health services, etc. will be available.
Lunch will be served, and a box of food will be given to each participant. Other free services include free haircuts, winter clothing and personal care items. All services are on a first come, first served basis and supplies are limited.
Greater Lapeer Transportation Authority will transport anyone to the event who lives within the Lapeer City limits for free with a 24-hour notice. If you are a Veteran, have honorable discharge papers, and live in the outlying areas of the county you can apply for free transportation under the Vets to Wellness program. GLTA must have 24 hours’ advance notice and veterans will need to preauthorize their transportation. Call GLTA at 810-664-4566 for more information or to set up your appointment.

If you have winter clothes you would like to donate, please drop off at the New To You consignment store at 286 W. Nepessing St., in downtown Lapeer and use the account name Neighbors Helping Neighbors.
