TRI-CITY AREA — The Imlay City and Almont girls’ cross country teams generated a fifth and 10th, respectively, last Saturday at a Division 2 regional.
Goodells County Park is where the action unfolded.
Regina (58 points), Marysville (91) and Macomb Lutheran North (93) occupied the top-three spots at day’s end.
Those schools advance to this Saturday’s Division 3 state meet at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn. Their race is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

Imlay City’s Jessica Denver took sixth place at a Division 2 regional meet last Saturday.

Eight other full squads competed at the regional level; Cros-Lex (101 points), Imlay City (105), St. Clair (108), Yale (158). Marine City (214), Armada (230), Almont (255) and Chandler Park (308).
Jessica Denver, sixth, 19:37.2; led Imlay City with a state qualifying performance. The Spartans also counted results from Elizabeth Sliman, 17th, 20:20.5; McKinzie Winget, 18th, 20:21.1; Mary Kaminski, 33rd, 21:51.6; and Vicki McTaggart, 40th, 22:10.6.
Katrina Kline, 35th, 21:54; logged the swiftest Almont clocking. She was backed by Emily Kwierant, 52nd, 23:00.8; Molly Kline, 56th, 23:08.5; Heather Fitchett, 57th, 23:15.1; and Alyssa Serra, 65th, 23:58.9.
