Raider tennis makes finals again

ALMONT — The Almont boys’ tennis team claimed a second-place finish at a Division 4 regional hosted by Grosse Pointe Liggett High School last Thursday.
Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett, the defending state champions, won the regional with 24 points. Almont pulled up second, thanks to an output of 22 points, and Frankel Jewish Academy tallied 21 for third.
Those three schools advance to the Division 4 state finals set this Friday and Saturday at Hope College.
Thomas Manko (first singles), Sam Bussone (second singles) and Ethan Marcola (third singles) led Almont with firsts that day.
Jack Jellison (fourth singles) provided Almont with a second.
Paul Biolchini and Jacob Rayl (second doubles), Trey Belanger and Nathan Castillo (third doubles) plus Blake Campbell and Luke Schlanderer (fourth doubles) teams all were flight semifinalists for Almont that day.
Almont also received a quarterfinal appearance from their first doubles combination of Darren Herman and Jacob Korte.
