Anyone who’s spent any time in Dryden surely knows Dave Hill. He’s the embodiment of someone who has a deep passion for the place he calls home, so it’s only fitting that “Officer Dave” was selected as grand marshal for Saturday’s Fall Festival parade in downtown Dryden.
Whether he’s on the time clock or not, Dave obviously loves helping others.
He retired from the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Department last summer after a  20-year career but still dons a police uniform as a part-time officer in Dryden Township, including serving as a DARE officer in the Dryden Community School District where he helps students learn how to resist peer pressure and stay away from drugs and violence. He’s been a longtime member of the Dryden Township Fire Department and, as a proud Navy veteran, honors the service of others by proudly marching in Dryden’s annual Memorial Day parade.
He’s the type of guy who “volunteers for everything” and goes out of his way to make sure others get the recognition they deserve said Dryden Police Chief Shawn Peters, so it’s only right that Dave now got the recognition he deserves.
