Ruth Farley, 99, of Imlay City, MI, died Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at Independence Village of Oxford, MI. Ruth Farley was born September 16, 1920 in Imlay Township to Mark and Mary O’Neil Farley. Ruth grew up on the family dairy farm in Imlay Township, MI, and moved to Imlay City in 1980. She had been living in the Oxford, MI area since 2007. Ruth attended Rider Rural School in Almont Township for eight years and graduated from Almont High School, Class of 1938. After graduation, Ruth worked five years at Almont High School as secretary to the Superintendent and the Board of Education. Ruth worked the next 37 years for Detroit Edison Company at the Imlay City and Lapeer Edison offices. She retired in 1981. Ruth was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Imlay City, past Altar Society President and Catholic Services Appeal Chairperson. Ruth was an Imlay Township Community Chest Fund Chairperson, Imlay City Historical Society charter member, and Edison Girls Club member – Port Huron District. Other interests included reading and travel, with trips to Florida and visiting a pen pal in Europe.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Mary Margaret and infant twin Jean Elizabeth Farley. Surviving are her cousins; and many special friends.
The funeral service was held Sunday, September 22, 2019 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI. Deacon Tom Yezak officiated. Interment followed at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Imlay City, MI.
Funeral arrangements were made by Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City.
