On September 5, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and the Michigan Community Service Commission announced 43 winners of the 2019 Governor’s Service Awards. The winners included individuals, businesses, and nonprofit organizations. They were selected for their commitment to volunteerism, service, or philanthropy.
Joining this prestigious group for the event was Imlay City High School 2019 graduate, Kendall Sommer.
Kendall was recognized for her winning artwork in the category of Michigan Youth for Service Poster Content 2019 High School Winner. Attending the ceremony as well was High School art teacher, Mr. Greg Irwin.
In addition to Kendall, Imlay City 2019 graduate Mallory Wetzel and current sophomore Mary Lengemann were finalists. Considering only seven finalists were selected for the entire state of Michigan, we could not be more proud of these three artists.
