Carol Hicks, age 85, of Attica, MI died Thursday, September 5, 2019 at Lapeer County Medical Care Facility in Lapeer, MI. Carol Jean Noetzold was born December 22, 1933 in Detroit, MI. She was the daughter of the late Alfred and the late Lillian (Fouchey) Noetzold. She grew up in Detroit and was a high school graduate. Carol married Paul Hicks on March 17, 1956 in Detroit, MI. They lived in Troy, MI for a period of time before moving to the Imlay City area in 1968.
She was mostly a homemaker, raising her family. Early on, Carol had several different jobs: a teller at Bank of the Commonwealth in Detroit, MI; she worked at the 4-H Cannery in Imlay City, MI; a clerk at Denny’s Satellite TV in Imlay City, MI; and worked at Rowley’s Auction House in Attica, MI.
Carol was a member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Lapeer.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Hicks; daughter, Carolyn Hicks of Attica, MI; four grandchildren, Julian Hicks of Attica, MI, John Paul Hicks, III of Clarkston, MI, Kari Hicks of Kentucky, and Bob Hicks of Kentucky; her sister-in-law, Betty Vatter; and several nieces and nephews.
Carol was preceded in death by her son, John Paul Hicks, Jr.; brother, Bob (Shirley) Noetzold; her sisters, Lillian Dutcher, Alice Hayes, June America and Isabelle Crouter; brothers-in-law, Earl (Belle) Hicks, Calvin (Sally) Hicks and Buddy (Shirley) Hicks; and her sisters-in-law, Sue (Nick) Davis and Latie (George) Hatfield.
The Funeral Service was held Monday, September 9 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 90 Millville Road, Lapeer, MI. Pastor Ron Nieman officiated. Burial followed at Attica Township Cemetery.
