LeRoy C. Ploeger, 97, went home to Our Lord on April 30, 2019 after a wonderful life. LeRoy was born to parents William and Annabel Ploeger of Capac on June 19, 1921.
As a youth LeRoy attended the Wendt School and graduated from Capac High. At 20, he was selected for apprentice training and began a 39 year career with Ford Motor Company. LeRoy also honorably served in the US Navy during WWII. He returned home to Capac to marry Lucile Ledebuhr and, together, they raised three children.
Many are the memories of holidays and summers spent with the extended family. LeRoy also enjoyed boating and camping throughout America. He and the children lost Lucile in the spring of 1969. Leroy was soon happily married again to Blanche Ludwig. They retired to Spring Hill, FL. They found happiness serving their church, playing golf and traveling the world.
LeRoy truly was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. LeRoy was proceeded in death by his wife Lucile Ploeger, his wife Blanche Ploeger and his daughter Jane Ploeger Slaughter.
LeRoy is honored now by his surviving brother Ernst Ploeger of Melbourne, FL, his sister Gretchen Ploeger of Port Huron, MI, his son David Ploeger (Becky) of 7 Lakes West, NC, his daughter Diane Ameen (Will) of Manassas, VA,
his son-in-law Kent Slaughter of Carefree, AZ, his stepdaughter Robin Ludwig of New York City, NY and stepson Roger Ludwig (Wan) of Capsaic, CA.
“Grandpa” will be especially missed by his three grandchildren, Sarah Ameen Ruffin (Julian) of Richmond VA, Thomas Ameen of Richmond,
VA and Melissa Ameen of Durham, NC.
A memorial service is planned for Friday, September 13, 2019 at Capac United Methodist Church (14952 Imlay City Road, Capac). The Reverend Lisa Clark will officiate. The family will receive guests at 10 a.m.; the memorial service and internment will follow at 11 a.m.
Memorials to honor LeRoy Ploeger may be made to Capac United Methodist Church.
