Ray McLean, age 94, of Imlay City (recently of Oxford), MI, died Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at Independence Village of Oxford. Ray Charles McLean was born August 10, 1924 in Yale (Lynn Township), MI. He was the son of the late Stanley and the late Ida Mae (Meredith) McLean. He married Ruth Rogers on October 7, 1950 in Romeo, MI. Ray grew up and lived most of his life in the Imlay City area.
He was employed by GMC Truck & Coach in Pontiac, MI for 30 years before retiring. Ray also raised cattle on his farm. Early in his career Ray was a milk truck driver and that is when he met his wife, Ruth. They were married 62 years before she passed away in 2012.
Ray was a member of the “McDonald’s Breakfast Club.”
He is survived by two daughters, Joellyn (John) Gutherie of Grand Blanc, MI and Raynl McLean of Imlay City, MI; six sisters, Shirley (Bill) Kavanaugh, Dorothy Walton, Ula Dennis, Mary Tietz, Leota Skwirsk and Gladys (Rodney) Warner; seven grandchildren, Malissa Covey, Ashley Tovey, Kyle (Jessica) Siegler, Michael Gutherie, Kaylea (Ryan) Moreno, Grace Gutherie and Hunter Gutherie; and nine great-grandchildren: Maddy, Gabe, Sadie, Anna, Zoey, Quintin, Destiny, Lucy and Layna.
Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth McLean; brother, Stanley (Evelyn McLean Robinson-Hunter) McLean; infant brother: Robert Bruce McLean; and 4 brothers-in-law, Isaac Walton, Jack Dennis, Harold Tietz and Joe Skwirsk.
The Memorial Service was held Sunday, August 11, 2019 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI.
