IMLAY CITY — Imlay City’s Grace Whitney joined forces with Port Huron’s Mark Walker to net a second-place finish among Mixed Open Doubles entrants at the Francis J. Robinson Memorial International Tennis Tournament this past week.
Play was contested last Friday through Sunday in Port Huron.
The team began their successful tournament stint Friday with a 6-2, 6-2 win against St. Clair’s Danielle and Brian Slonac.
Whitney and Walker then secured a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Port Huron’s Isabella Murray and Sarnia’s Andrew Davies.
That placed them in the title match where Port Huron’s Tiffany Odlum and and Steve Pillon provided their opposition. Their battle drew to a close with Odlum and Pillon up by a 4-6, 6-2, 13-11 count.
