ALMONT — The Detroit Diamond Jaxx 16U baseball team went 3-1-1 at the All-Prospect Championship Tournament.
The tournament was contested Thursday through Sunday at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
Detroit Diamond Jaxx started things off Thursday with a 5-3 win against West Michigan Black Sox.
Friday’s action saw Detroit Diamond Jaxx and the Barrie Baycats Elite (Canada) tie their contest at five runs apiece.
They would add two victories to their total on Saturday. It was there
they registered a 6-1 triumph against Pittsburgh Outlaws (Pennsylvania) and notch a 7-3 win over Hawks Gold.
Those outcomes landed them one of six available spots for Sunday’s bracket play.
Holding down the third seed, Detroit Diamond Jaxx squared off versus Team All-American (Pennsylvania). That battle drew to a close with Team All-American, the eventual runnerup, ahead 5-0.
Stine had two of the Detroit Diamond Jaxx five basehits.
He finished the tournament six for 14 at the plate, collecting five singles and a double along the way.
