, age 42, of Waterloo, IA, formerly of Imlay City, MI, died Thursday, July 4, 2019 at her home in Waterloo. Dena Marie VanderPloeg was born December 21, 1976 in Lapeer, MI.
She was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Carol Jean (McSpadin) VanderPloeg. Dena attended Imlay
City Community Schools. She married Nathaniel Kinney. Dena grew up in the Imlay City and Kingston Area. She had lived in the Waterloo, IA area for the last 8 years. Dena worked as a sales clerk in Waterloo.
She is survived by her husband, Nathaniel Kinney; daughters, Mikayla (Cody) Stockwell of Jeddo, MI and Isis Kloss of Kingston, MI; sons, Nathan Kloss of Mayville, MI and Jacob Kloss of Mayville, MI; and her mother Carol Jean (McSpadin) VanderPloeg. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Natalie Stockwell, Gage Stockwell, and Levi Stockwell. Dena was preceded in death by her father, Ben VanderPloeg; and a sister, Joy Lynn VanderPloeg.
The funeral services were held at 5 p.m. Monday, July 15 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI.
