Lyal Greenwald, age 69, of Columbiaville, MI died Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Victoria’s House of Flint, MI. Lyal Jay Greenwald was born October 7, 1949 in Lapeer, MI. He is the son of the late Jay Harlan and the late Vera (Reamer) Greenwald. He grew up in Imlay City, MI. Lyal attended Imlay City High School and graduated from North Branch High School.
He was employed as a direct care worker for 16 years at Oakdale Healthcare in Lapeer, MI. Previous to Oakdale, Lyal was employed as a direct care worker for Caro State Home for 12 years. He attended People’s Baptist Church in Columbiaville. Lyal had a small farm and liked to raise canaries, finches, chickens, rabbits, and pigeons. When Lyal was younger, he raced homing pigeons.
Lyal is survived by one son, Michael (Amanda) Greenwald of Columbiaville, MI; two sisters, Jane Penzien and Dorothy Gibson; three brothers, Leonard Greenwald, Melvin Greenwald and Larry Greenwald; and two grandchildren, Michael Todd Greenwald and Brenden Michael Greenwald.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jay and Vera Greenwald; and his brother, Earl Greenwald.
The funeral was held Friday, July 12, 2019 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI. Pastor Mark Wheatley, Pastor of People’s Baptist Church officiated. Interment followed at Willow Grove Cemetery, Armada, MI.
