Janet Hamlin, age 81, of Dryden, MI died Monday, July 15, 2019 at her home. Janet Lee Johnson was born September 13, 1937 in Highland Park, MI. She was the daughter of the late George and the late Lucille (Sheldon) Johnson. Janet grew up in Waterford and Utica, MI. She attended Waterford High School. Janet moved to the Dryden area while she was a teenager. She married Harold Hamlin on February 15, 1955 in Dryden, MI.
She was mostly a homemaker raising her family. Janet and Harold worked in ministry for 42 years in the Dryden area. They went on many missionary trips to Mexico and helped build many churches. Janet enjoyed building, gardening, stone work and painting. She loved to participate in the Scottish Highland Festivals in Livonia, Alma, Sarnia and Williamsburg, VA with her family.
Janet is survived by her husband, Harold Hamlin; two daughters, Juli Gabbard of Dryden, MI and Tami (Kevin) Pope of Montrose, MI; three sons, Micheal Hamlin of Virginia Beach, VA, Jeffrery Hamlin of Dryden, MI and Scott (Lety) Hamlin of Attica, MI; three sisters, Charlotte Ruelle, Sharon High and Michelle Volmers; her son-in-law, George Bowen of Dryden, MI; 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Lucille Hamlin; her daughter, Nanci Lee Bowen; four brothers, Ronald Johnson, George Johnson, Gerald Johnson and Eugene Johnson; her granddaughter, Catherine Baker; and her son-in-law, John Gabbard.
The funeral will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, July 18, 2019 at Rochester Christian Church, 4436 N. Rochester Rd., Rochester, MI. Reverend Richard Crisco, pastor at Rochester Christian Church, will officiate.
The family will be available for visitation 2-5 and 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, July 17 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI and 10:30 – 11:30 a.m., Thursday, at Rochester Christian Church.
