Marie Perlberg, age 85, of Marlette, MI, formerly of Imlay City, died Saturday, June 29, 2019 at United Hospice Residence of Marlette. Cora Marie Spencer was born October 22, 1933 in Lapeer, MI. She was the daughter of the late Alva Dale and the late Nellie Spencer. Marie grew up in the North Branch and Peck areas. She married Howard William Perlberg on December 31, 1955 in Romeo, MI. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Howard William Perlberg. She was a graduate of Peck High School, Class of 1956.
Marie was employed for 11 years at the Imlay City McDonald’s Restaurant and before that, for five years at Vlasics Foods in Imlay City. Marie attended Hope Lutheran Church in Marlette while living in Marlette and West Goodland United Methodist Church in Imlay City while living nearer to Imlay City. Marie loved to read romantic novels and enjoyed sewing and embroidery crafts.
Marie is survived by three daughters, Rose (Jerry) Pierson of Deckerville, MI, Cindy Gostiaux of Marlette, MI and Lee (Daniel Donnelly) Hale of Pennsylvania; her brother, Arthur Spencer of Detroit, MI; and sisters-in-law, Rowena Spencer, Carol Spencer and Tina Perlberg. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Andrea, Gladys, Drew, Jeannette and Trevor; seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; sons-in-law, Glenn Albee and Richard Gostiaux; and her brothers, William Spencer and Eugene Spencer.
The funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI. Officiating will be Pastor Paulette Cummings. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dryden, MI. The family will be available for visitation from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI.
