CAPAC — The Capac boys’ track team brought home a first-place showing among Orange Division entries last Friday at The Hurd Invitational in Vassar.
Capac edged Reese, 132 points to 130, for team honors that day. They were followed by Cass City (120 points), Unionville Sebewaing Area (94), Harbor Beach (59), Vassar (38), Saginaw Arts and Sciences (14) and Pigeon-Laker (10).
Daniel Griffith, 200 dash, 24.47 seconds; and Hank Barker, 110 (16.28 seconds) and 300-meter (44.08 seconds) hurdles; led Capac with individual event firsts.
The Capac 800 (Ethan Bastian, Ben Laskowski, Tyler Ellis and Griffith) and 1600 (Charlie Aldrich, Bastian, Ellis and Barker) relays also prevailed. They were timed in 1:39 and 3:50.74, respectively.
Barker, pole vault, 11 feet; Ellis, long jump, 18 feet 7 inches; Bryce Tank, discus, 106 feet 1 inch; Griffith, 100-meter dash, 11.75 seconds; and Aldrich, 400 dash, 57.07 seconds; generated Capac’s seconds.
The Capac 400-meter relay of Joe Peters, Laskowski, Ellis and Griffith took second with a clocking of 48.2 seconds.
Logan Swantek, pole vault, 9 feet; gave Capac a three-way tie for a third.
Ben Rodriguez, 3200 run, 11:51.64; obtained a fourth for Capac.
Bastian, 200-meter dash, 25.1 seconds; collected the lone Capac fifth.
Swantek, 1600 run, 5:27.37; and Max Frangedakis, 3200-meter run, 12:30.66 added sixths to Capac’s cause.
