Thomas Smith, age 69, of Fort Gratiot Township, MI died Saturday, April 27, 2019 at McLaren Flint Region Medical Center. Thomas Mark Smith was born July 19, 1949 in Pontiac, MI. He was the son of the late Truman Ebenezer and the late Ernestine A. (Wardell) Smith. He married Linda Diana Weis in 1998 in Lapeer, MI.
The funeral was held on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home Of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI. A family member, Aaron Mark Smith, officiated.
Tom grew up in the Imlay City area. He attended Imlay City High School. Tom worked at an early age for Oakdale Center in Lapeer as a Nurses Aide and then as a Bridge Safety Officer at the Blue Water International Bridge in Port Huron, a total of more than 25 years for the State of Michigan. After retirement he went to work for Regency On The Lake again as a Nurses Aide.
Tom and Linda have been doing some travel trailering since retirement. Tom loved to tell stories (some of them actually true),
and he loved to cheat
at card games with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Diana (Weis) Smith of Fort Gratiot;
children, Heidi Patel of Port Huron, MI, Sarah James of Fort Gratiot, MI, Cheryl Bolduc of Port Huron, MI, Katelyn
Smith of Lansing, MI, Jamie Danielle of Rockford, MI, Carrie Mackin of Elyria, OH, J. J. Flickinger of Augusta, MI; nineteen grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers, Gary Smith, Daniel Smith, Bill Smith and Philip Smith; and sisters, Marsha Hotchkiss, Dawn Massey, Rebecca Muxlow, Deborah Guiliano, Bonnie Day and Renee Goodell.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents: Truman and Ernestine Smith; brothers: Paul, David and Tim (his twin); sisters: Joyce Currier, Sandy Childers, Faith Canaday, and Crystal Brandt.
