Spartan girls win a pair of games from Raiders
TRI-CITY AREA — Imlay City bested host Almont twice in a Blue Water Area Conference varsity softball doubleheader last Wednesday.
In the opener, Imlay City notched a 4-2 win over Almont.

Isabella Barker (a single and a homer) and Emily Orlowski (a single and a double) led Imlay City at the plate. They were backed by Natalie Douglas (a double) plus Abigail Thibodeau, Kendall Whitsett, Emma Sellers and Makenzie Hayward (a single each).
Barker was Imlay City’s pitcher of record. She gave up eight hits, struck out seven and walked none over the seven-inning distance.
Hannah Feys paced Almont with three singles. Hannah Landerschier and Sarah Hall (a double apiece) along with Grace Johnson and Olivia Malcolm (a single each) supported her performance. In the second game, Imlay City made Almont absorb a 16-4 loss.
Jaya Forti (two singles and a homer), Hayward (a single and a homer) plus Leah Dawson, Skylar Stone, Samantha Brown and Barker (two singles apiece) put up Imlay City’s top plate credentials. Douglas (a double) and Thibodeau (a single) had the other Spartan hits.
Hall (a pair of singles) paced Almont at the plate. The Raiders also had Malcolm and Feys (a double apiece) plus Johnson (a single) connect.
