Jeremy “Smiley” Surgener, age 29, of Imlay City, MI died suddenly Monday, April 22, 2019 at his home. Jeremy Joseph Surgener was born May 15, 1989 in Pontiac, MI. He was the son of James and Sue (Bonno) Jackson. Jeremy grew up in the Marlette and Lapeer areas. He was a graduate of Marlette High School, Class of 2008.

He was employed as a porter and maintenance man for Imlay City Ford in Imlay City, MI.

Jeremy enjoyed fishing north of Atlanta, MI, at Tomahawk Creek Flooding, but he tended to donate more fishing lures than he caught fish. He also played the bass guitar.

He is survived by his parents, Jim and Sue Jackson; five sisters, Abby Jackson, Madyson Jackson, Karli Jackson, Marissa Jackson and Olivia Jackson; his grandparents, Harold and Linda Stanifer of Crossville, TN, Shelby Surgener of Lake City, FL and Linda Kaake of Macomb, MI; several aunts and uncles; and his close friend, Tim Bader of Clifford, MI.

Jeremy was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Donald J. Bonno and Joe Surgener.

The funeral was held at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 27 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI.
