Merlyn Muir, age 93, of Imlay City, MI died Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at McLaren Flint Region Medical Center of Flint, MI. Merlyn J. Muir was born August 21, 1925 in Imlay City, MI. He was the son of the late Jay Robinson and the late Anna (Ferrett) Muir. Merlyn grew up in Imlay City. He was a graduate of Imlay City High School, Class of 1943. He married Patricia Ann Hayden on April 28, 1951 in Lum, MI. He has lived on his family farm his entire life in Imlay City.
He served in the United States Navy as a sonar man during World War II from 1943 to 1946.
Merlyn was employed in the parts department salvage department for Mopar in Detroit and Warren. Before working for Mopar, Merlyn worked for Chrysler Motors Parts Plant in Detroit, MI.
After retiring, Merlyn went to work as a custodian for Big Wheel in Imlay City, MI. He also worked on the family farm his entire life.
He enjoyed visiting with friends, tinkering in the yard, and working on yard equipment.
Merlyn is survived by his wife, Patricia Muir; two daughters, Janet (Dan Madden) Muir of White Lake, MI and Linda Ankley of Lapeer, MI; one sister, Annabel (James) Churchill of Harbor Springs, MI; six grandchildren, Ginger (Donald) Lockrey, Wesley (Tanya Ferrett) Phillips, Melanie (Kenneth) Wagner, Sean (Tonya) Ankley, Kelly (Gary Paquette) Ankley, and Kevin (Caitlyn Crone) Madden; and ten great-grandchildren, Haydn Phillips, Oliver Wagner, Aliyah Reyna, Addison Paquette, Brianna Wagner, Kyle Wagner, Matthew Paquette, Whitney Bugh, Tiffany Harvey, and Onyx Tinsler.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jay and Anna Muir; and three sisters, Margaret (Robert) Churchill, Ivaleen (Frank) David, and May Muir.
The funeral was held Friday, April 12, 2019 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI. Pastor Chuck Herpolsheimer, pastor of Light of Christ Church, officiated. Interment followed at Imlay Township Cemetery.
