Barbara Jean Blair peacefully passed away Friday, March 22, 2019 at Lapeer County Medical Care Facility (Suncrest) at the age of 83. She was surrounded by loved ones.
Barbara, daughter of the late Stanley and Pauline (Scott) Kalisz, was born June 14, 1935 in Melvindale and was the oldest daughter of eight children. She grew up in Attica and married John (Jack) Richard Blair on October 16, 1954, who proceeded her in death on November 12, 2011.
Barbara attended two years at Bishop Kelly Catholic School in Lapeer. She graduated from Dryden Community School June 1954. She was employed at Almont – Sterling Heights, St. Joseph Hospital as a head cook.
Barbara loved to knit/crochet, garden and cook. She was a loving dedicated mother and grandmother with work ethics that were infectious.
Barbara is survived by her children, Cynthia (Greg) Gray of Dryden, Lynne (Brian) Furgerson of Dryden and Richard (Leslie) Blair of Issaquah, WA; grandchildren, Brandon (Melanie) Bowman of Imlay City, Brooklynn (Stephen) Lestage of Imlay City, Aaron (Melissa) Furgerson of Attica, Adam (Brianna) Furgerson of Dryden, Andy (fiancé, Ashley) Furgerson of Almont, Brittney (Ryan) Holmes of North Bend, WA, Taylor (fiancé, Doug) Blair and Austin Blair of Issaquah, WA. Great-grandchildren, Ethan, Keenan, Logan, Roberts; Trenna, Celia Bowman; Toriana, Brett Lestage; Aiden, Owen, Madelyn, Swayer Furgerson; Sienna, Nora, Holmes; Adeline Bores; and Mason Grover. Siblings, Patty (Ron) Campbell of Mussey, Jeannie Iloncaie, of South Carolina, Judy Wilson of Florida, and Linda (Pat) Fettig of Saginaw. Many special friends, Eddie Crimm, Nona Desmet, Kathie Suddarth and all the nursing staff at Lapeer County Medical Care Facility for blessing our dear mother during this time.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and three brothers, Stanley, Thomas, and Ronald Kalisz.
Per Barbara’s own wishes, cremation has been entrusted to Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Almont.
Private services will be held late October 2019 for her and husband John (Jack) at Dryden Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
