ALMONT — Almont put up a good fight, only to drop a 51-42 verdict to Cros-Lex in a Division 2 boys’ district basketball championship confrontation it hosted last Friday night.

With the outcome, Almont sees a 14-8 season draw to a close.

In Friday’s confrontation, Almont spotted Cros-Lex a 15-8 advantage after one quarter was complete.

Almont then bounced back with an 18-13 second quarter edge, closing the gap to 28-26 at the half.

The third quarter would see each side net five points, leaving Cros-Lex up 33-31 with 24 minutes gone.

Cros-Lex then outscored Almont 18-11 from that point on, assuring themselves of a 51-42 win when the final second ticked off the clock.

Atte Vuoristo (15 points, including three trifectas) led Almont that evening. Austin Watt (10 points, featuring a pair of treys) hit for double

figures as well. The Raiders also had Colby Schapman (seven points), Rafael Farias (four) plus Gabe Bourdeau

and Brett Wrobel (three each) reach the scoring column.
