Almont averts upset in BWAC clash with strong finish
TRI-CITY AREA — Almont averted an upset, pulling out a 47-40 win against host Imlay City in a Blue Water Area Conference varsity boys’ basketball battle on Tuesday, February 19.
With the decision, Almont improves to 13-6 and 10-4. Imlay City falls to 9-11 and 5-9.
In Tuesday’s battle, Almont grabbed a 10-9 edge after one quarter was done.

The middle two quarters saw both sides hit for 24 total points, leaving Almont up 34-33 with 24 minutes gone.
Almont then outscored Imlay City 13-7 the rest of the way, pulling out a 47-40 victory.
For Almont, Atte Vuoristo (17 points, including three trifectas) and Austin Watt (10) proved the toughest players to stop. They were backed by Colby Schapman (six points), Cameron Asaro (five, featuring a trey), Mike Rinke (four), Gabe Bourdeau (a triple) and Brett Wrobel (two).
Logan Wilson (16 points, including a pair of trifectas) topped Imlay City’s scoring list. The Spartans also had Lonnie Wolford (eight points, featuring a pair of treys), Hunter Medrano (eight), Mitch Allen (four) plus Riley Bertram and Parker Lewis (two apiece) connect.
