Lorraine Hillman, age 94, of Imlay City, MI, died Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Ascension-St. John’s Hospital of Detroit, MI. Lorraine Elizabeth Hardenburgh was born March 11, 1924 in Dryden, MI. She was the daughter of the late Claude and the late Carrie (Tyack) Hardenburgh. Lorraine grew up in Dryden. She was a graduate of Dryden High School, Class of 1942. She married Martin John Hillman on October 13, 1945 in Dryden, MI. She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin. He died on August 12, 2002.
Lorraine worked at Pontiac Motors and Lapeer Metal Products before taking a position as the Administrative Assistant at Imlay City Weston Street Elementary School. She retired after 25-plus years. Lorraine was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Imlay City, Imlay City American Legion Auxiliary, Imlay City VFW Auxiliary, and Imlay City Eagles. She was the membership chairman for the Lapeer County Retired School Personnel Group. Lorraine enjoyed participating with the Red Hatters, bowling and playing cards.
She is survived by three daughters, Nancy (Robert) Frazzini of Warren, MI, Kathleen (Robert) Stewart of Port Huron, MI and Dawn (James) Moses of Imlay City, MI; grandchildren, Dominica (Lucian) Van Cleave, Gregory (Lacey) Gwyn, Dana (Nelson) Rogers, Krista (Tony Peplinski) Boos; great-grandchildren: Chloe Rogers, Jaiden Webster, Gabriella Rogers, Victoria Van Cleave, Lilley Kate Gwyn, Ryann Webster, Vada Lorraine Gwyn, Caroline Peplinski and Greyson Gwyn; and her great-great-grandson, Luke Rogers.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Hillman; her parents, Claude and Carrie Hardenburgh; a brother, De Carol Hardenburgh; and sisters, Viola Hagemeister and Bernice Lovett.
The funeral services were held Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 200 N. Cedar St., Imlay City, MI. Officiating was the Reverend Alan Casillas, pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Burial followed in Imlay Township Cemetery, Imlay City.
