TRI-CITY AREA — Imlay City qualified five wrestlers and Almont three to this Saturday’s Division 3 regional in Richmond.

They advanced with top-four weight class placings at a Montrose-based district last Saturday.

Wesley Hampton headlined for Imlay City. Hampton reached the 135-pound championship bout where he prevailed by injury default versus Mount Morris foe Codie Aidif.

Hunter Mullins provided Imlay City with a second. Mullins made it to the title encounter at 160 pounds where he was pinned by Caro’s DJ Daniels (fall time not available).

Dakota Sandzik, Cristian Rojas and Joe Harper completed the list of Imlay City placewinners with thirds. Sandzik ended his stint at 112 pounds with a 6-4 win against Lakeville’s Nate Young; Rojas wrapped up 125-pound action with a 17-1 victory over Mt. Morris foe Jacob Rowley; and Harper finished his stint at 285 pounds when he pinned Byron’s Adam Lawrence (fall time not available).

Dallas Stanton led Almont with a second. Stanton advanced to the 103-pound title tilt where dropped an 8-2 verdict to Yale’s Seth Woolman.

Mathew Dwyer and Robbie Battani rounded out the list of Almont placewinners with thirds. The former closed out his stint at 135 pounds with a 15-2 victory over Lakeville’s Cal Huggler and the latter concluded 189-pound action when he pinned Durand’s Sayer Robinson (fall time not available).
