Irene Bissett, age 81, of Imlay City, MI died Monday, February 11, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family.

Irene Hazel Boadway was born June 7, 1937 in Yale, MI. She was the daughter of the late Harley and the late Thelma (Schriber) Boadway. Irene grew up in Capac, MI. She was a graduate of Capac High School, Class of 1955. She married Bobby Bernard Bissett on September 14, 1957 in Brown City, MI. They were married over 60 years. Irene and Bobby moved to the Imlay City area soon after they got married and have lived there since.

She was employed as a machine operator by Voplex before retiring. Before Voplex, Irene was employed at Hamill Seat Belt Manufacturing in Imlay City and had been a cashier at Dean’s Drug Store for a period of time.

Bobby and Irene owned a 5th wheel travel trailer and enjoyed camping and traveling to and from Wauchula, FL during their retirement. Irene participated with the Red Hat Society in Wauchula, FL. She loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren.

Irene is survived by her husband, Bobby Bissett; two daughters, Brenda Ginn of Brown City, MI and Belinda (Paul) Morocco of Imlay City, MI; one son, Brent (Elida) Bissett of Imlay City, MI; seven grandchildren, Wayne (Shelley) Ginn, Trisha (Nathan) Burzynski, Rachelle (Brandon) Yarbough, Aaron Ginn, Cara Morocco, Brandon Bissett, and Nicholas Morocco; and her nine great-grandchildren, Cody, Caleb, Chad, Brooklyn, Joshua, Mason, Oliver, Destiney and Emily.

She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, David Ginn; two brothers, Richard Boadway and Harvey Boadway; and her sister, Joanne Boadway.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, February 14 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI. Interment will follow at Imlay Township Cemetery.

The family will be available for visitation 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, February 13 and 10-11 a.m. Thursday, at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City.
