CAPAC — Capac fell by a narrow 36-35 count to visiting Marlette in a Greater Thumb Conference East varsity girls’ basketball battle last Friday night.

With the decision, Capac now stands at 3-9 and 3-5.

The next eight minutes of action saw Capac hit for 11 points and Marlette net four, good for a 21-13 advantage at the halftime break.

When the action resumed, Marlette bounced back with an 8-4 third quarter advantage. That trimmed their deficit to 25-21 with 24 minutes elapsed.

Marlette then outscored Capac 15-10 the rest of the way, pulling out a 36-35 victory.

For Capac, Aubree Smith led the way with 16 points. She drained two triples along the way. Shelby Husovsky (eight points, including a pair of trifectas), Jona Mullin (six) and McKennah Hopkins (five, featuring a trey) also reached the scoring column.
