Juanita Ann Hunter, 69, of Lexington, formerly of Capac, passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2019, very unexpectedly, surrounded by her loving family, at McLaren Macomb Hospital in Mt. Clemens.
Juanita Ann Melland was born in Detroit, MI on December 5, 1949 to the late Reuben Teanus and Pamella Lucille (Bennett) Melland.
She married Douglas Hunter on July 20, 1968 in Capac.
Juanita graduated from Capac High School and spent most of her life as a resident of Capac. She eventually moved to Lexington where she fulfilled a lifelong dream of living near the water.
Juanita was a homemaker who devoted her time to raising her boys. During this time and after, she worked hard in assisting her family with the operation of their farm. Juanita was a Trustee with Lynn Township for many years and was instrumental with the construction on the new Township Hall. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her sisters. Juanita adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be missed, remembered and loved by many.
Surviving are two sons, Jeffrey Allen (Amber) Hunter Sr. of Clarkston and Douglas Phillip (Aliece Timmer) Hunter of Imlay City; six grandchildren, Stephanie (Aaron) Collins of Peck, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Hunter Jr. of Sandusky, Jacob (Emily Farley) Hunter of Yale and Morgan, Dillon, and Waylon Hunter of Clarkston; seven great-grandchildren, Kaden, Ava, Addison, Kamden, Adlee May, Keegan, and Caiden; five siblings, Pamella (Joseph) Garber of Sault Ste. Marie, Karen Behnke of Yale, Diane (George) Berard of Kentwood, Richard Melland of Oregon and Jon Melland of Nebraska.
Juanita was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jaime Marie and two brothers, Terrance and Lynn Melland.
