Bernie Green, age 80, of Leesburg, Florida and Gladwin, Michigan (formerly of Imlay City, MI), passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2019 in Leesburg, Florida. Bernard Lee Green was born August 4, 1938 in Metamora, MI. He was the son of the late George Green and Elsie Thompson. Bernie grew up and attended school in the Metamora, MI. He married Carolyn Reid. His wife, Carolyn, preceded him in death in 1996.

He lived most of his life as a family and business man in Imlay City, MI until his retirement. After retirement Bernie became a snowbird living between Leesburg, FL and Gladwin, MI.

Bernie served in the United States Army after the Korean War.

He owned and operated Green’s Glass in Imlay City from 1966 until 1998. Bernie designed the sparkly sign for his shop.

Bernie was a charter member and past president of the Imlay City Eagles. He had his pilot’s license, shot skeet, and enjoyed golf at Holly Meadows Golf Course.

He is survived by daughter, Paula (Irv) Gill of Imlay City, MI; his three grandchildren, Brandon, Nathan, and Danielle Gill; and his special friend, Sue Dawson of Leesburg, FL and Gladwin, MI.

Bernie was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Green; son, Bernard “Jr.” L. Green Jr.; his father, George Green; mother, Elsie (Ray) Thompson; three sisters and one brother; and several extended family members.

Cremation has taken place in Florida. A private family burial of ashes will take place at Imlay Township Cemetery.
