Almont uses strong second half to secure BWAC victory

TRI-CITY AREA — Almont (7-2, 4-1) came out on top of a 64-45 verdict against visiting Imlay City (4-5, 1-4) in a Blue Water Area Conference varsity boys’ basketball battle on Tuesday, January 8.
In Tuesday’s battle, Almont took a 13-9 advantage after one quarter was over with.
The next two quarters would see Almont put up 33 total points and Imlay City manage 22, pushing their lead to 46-31 with 24 minutes gone.
Almont then outscored Imlay City 18-14 the rest of the way, closing out a 64-45 win.
Austin Watt (20 points, including four trifectas), Atte Vuoristo (12, featuring a pair of treys) and Rafael Farias (11, with a triple) led Almont with double figure outputs. They were backed by Cameron Asaro (nine points, including a trifecta), Gabe Bourdeau (eight, featuring a pair of treys) along with Brett Wrobel and Darren Herman (two each).
Lonnie Wolford (17), Mitch Allen (13) and Parker Lewis (11) provided Imlay City’s top point totals. The Spartans also had Jono Guajardo and Riley Bertram (two apiece) connect.
