Phil Babcock, age 90, of Imlay City, MI died Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at home.
Philip Olin Babcock was born August 12, 1928 in Michigan. He was the son of the late Myrton and the late Violet (Ellison) Babcock. Phil grew up and attended school in Colorado. Philip moved to Michigan when he was 16 years old. He continued his education and graduated from Detroit Bible College. Philip married Elaine Herbert on November 26, 1948 in Imlay City, MI. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine, on November 25, 2017.
He was employed as a truck driver by Jackson Brothers Inc. Trucking in Imlay City. Before working for Jackson Brothers, Phil was employed as a truck driver for Vlasic Foods in Imlay City. He made a lifetime career of truck driving.
Phil was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Imlay City.
He is survived by two daughters, Denise Scott of Brown City, MI and Tina Gingerich of Indiana; four sons, Larry (Diane) Babcock of Lapeer, MI, Allen (Jenny) Babcock of Washington, MI, Dennis (Barb) Babcock of Ypsilanti, MI and Rick (Jan) Babcock of Royston, GA; four sisters, Ginger Helmick of Washington, Marion Harper of Colorado, Lois Murel of Arizona and Mickey (Roland) Hutch of California; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Phil was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Babcock; granddaughter, Sarah Lynn Babcock; grandson, Adam Babcock; and sister, Shirley Burton.
A graveside funeral was held Monday, January 21, 2019, at Imlay Township Cemetery, Imlay City, MI. Reverend Timothy Ericson of Trinity Baptist Church officiated.
