ALMONT — Almont netted a 59-31 win at Armada’s expense in a Blue Water Area Conference varsity boys’ basketball game it hosted last Friday night.

With the outcome, Almont goes to 6-2 overall and 3-1 as far as BWAC clashes are concerned.

In Friday’s game, Almont opened up a 15-6 advantage after one quarter was complete and widened the gap to 28-10 at the halftime break.

When play resumed, Almont continued to pull away. Thanks to a 21-6 third quarter edge, the Raiders forged a 49-16 cushion with 24 minutes gone.

Almont then withstood a 15-10 fourth quarter rally, leaving with a 59-31 win to their credit.

Austin Watt (18, including four trifectas) and Atte Vuoristo (12, featuring a pair of treys) posted Almont’s top point totals. They were backed by Gabe Bourdeau (six points, with a pair of triples), Colby Schapman (five), Matt McFarlane (a trifecta), Mike Rinke, Cameron Asaro and Brett Wrobel (three each) plus Rafael Farias, Darren Herman and Nacho Aguirre (two apiece).
