June Penzien, age 90, of Attica, MI died Saturday, January 5, 2019 at McLaren Lapeer Region Hospital. June Leota Wills was born June 6, 1928 in Capac, MI. She was the daughter of the late Henry and the late Lena (Standel) Wills. June grew up in Capac; she was a graduate of Capac High School Class of 1946. June worked as a clerk at the Detroit Edison Office in Capac until 1954. She married Harry Penzien on August 29, 1954 in Capac, MI. June and Harry lived all of their married life in the Attica area.

June was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Capac. She enjoyed visiting with her neighbors and friends (a Chit-Chat Club); she loved to spoil the grandchildren and great-grandchildren; she played the piano often and made sure that her children learned the piano and participated in the school bands and church music ministries. She was a wonderful cook and baker (think Lemon Meringue Pies). She enjoyed hooking rugs, painting and walking. She walked over the Mighty Mackinaw Bridge six times and walked in the Crim Race in Flint several times.

She is survived by her husband, Harry Penzien; and two sons, David (Sharon) Penzien of Attica, MI and and Duane (Shirley) Penzien of Sault Sainte Marie, MI. She also is survived by seven grandchildren, David (Jennifer) Penzien, Charles (Rene) Penzien, Michael Penzien, Joseph (Wendy) Penzien, Kaitlyn (Josh) Caulder, Jakob Penzien, James (Laura) Penzien; and by fifteen great-grandchildren.

June was preceded in death by her daughter, Jane Katherine Penzien in 1982; her parents, Henry and Nora Wills; and four sisters, Charlotte, Jean, Florence and Barbara.

The funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, January 10, 2019 at St. John’s

Lutheran Church, 109 E. Kempf Ct., Capac, MI. The church’s minister, Charles Martin, will officiate. Burial will follow in Imlay Township Cemetery, Imlay City, MI.

The family will be available for visitation 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI and from 10-11 a.m. Thursday, January 10 at St. John’s Lutheran Church.
