Spartans use first quarter outburst to secure victory
IMLAY CITY — The Imlay City varsity basketball squad (3-4) came out on top of a 55-38 verdict over Cass City (3-5) last Friday afternoon at the
Port Huron-based SC4 Holiday Basketball Showcase.
In Friday’s game, Imlay City bolted out to a 17-5 advantage after one quarter was complete.

They then outscored Cass City 13-11 from that point on, assuring themselves of a 55-38 win when the clock zeroed out for the final time.Imlay City followed it up with a 25-22 edge during the middle two quarters, increasing their advantage 42-27.
Hunter Medrano led Imlay City with an 11-point performance. He was given assistance in the scoring department by Mitch Allen (nine points, including a
trifecta), Lonnie Wolford and Riley Bertram (eight each), Parker Lewis (six, featuring a pair of treys), Raymond Liu (four, with
a triple), Logan Wilson (four), Maleke Thompson (three) and Manny Ortiz (two).
